Prom night is one of the most memorable evenings in a teenager's life — and safe, reliable transportation is essential. As a parent, ensuring your teen gets to and from prom safely is a top priority. Here's everything Westchester County parents need to know about prom night transportation.
Why Professional Prom Car Service Matters
While some parents arrange carpools or allow teens to drive themselves, professional prom transportation offers significant advantages:
- Safety: Professional, licensed drivers with clean records and background checks
- Reliability: No worrying about designated drivers, parking, or navigation
- Peace of mind: Parents can relax knowing their teen is in professional hands
- Special experience: Arriving in a professional car service adds to the magic of prom night
Westchester County High Schools We Serve
Ernie's Taxi provides prom transportation for students from all major Westchester County high schools including John Jay High School, Yorktown High School, Lakeland High School, Somers High School, Byram Hills High School, Ossining High School, Hen Hud High School, Briarcliff High School, and many more throughout the county.
Tips for Booking Prom Car Service in Westchester
Book early: Prom season (April-June) fills up fast. We recommend booking 2-3 months in advance to guarantee your date and time.
Confirm all details: Provide pickup address, prom venue address, and any after-prom locations when booking.
Discuss timing: Coordinate with your teen on exact pickup and return times so everyone is on the same page.
Choosing the right vehicle for your group
- Sedan: up to 3 passengers; good for a couple or a small group of friends.
- Mid-size SUV: up to 4 passengers.
- Minivan or large SUV: up to 6 passengers, with room for dresses and shoes in the back.
We do not run stretch limousines or party buses. What we offer is a clean sedan, SUV or minivan with a licensed driver who takes the group where the plan says, at the times the parents agreed.
What parents should settle before prom night
- Every address: photos, the prom venue, and the after-prom location, in order.
- Pickup and return times, agreed with your teen in advance. Local rides run 6 AM to 10 PM; later returns must be booked ahead.
- Who we call: one parent’s cell number for the driver on the night.
- House rules: smoking, vaping and alcohol are not allowed in our vehicles, and drivers will not make unplanned stops.
Free cancellation applies more than 2 hours before pickup, and waiting beyond 15 minutes at a stop may be charged, so build the photo session into the timeline. Local taxi rides cover towns within about 15 road miles of our Mount Kisco, Yorktown Heights and Mohegan Lake bases; see our prom car service page for details.
Frequently asked questions
How far ahead should we book prom transportation?
As early as you know the date. Prom season (April to June) is busy, and larger vehicles go first.
Can one car pick up several students from different homes?
Yes. Give us every pickup address in order when you book and we plan the route and the timing.
Do you provide limousines for prom?
No. We run sedans, SUVs and minivans with licensed drivers. If a stretch limousine is essential, a limousine company is the right choice.
Is alcohol allowed in the car?
No. Smoking, vaping and alcohol are not allowed in any of our vehicles.
